Pre mirena removal - Some suggestions

Welcome to mirena warriors,

I have created this blog to our a space for women that are pre, post or during have mirena issues. I had my mirena removed in 2014 and since the removal I have learnt so much. Just because you have made the decision to get your mirena removed it doesn't mean the symptoms will ease immediately. There will be some work ahead of you....hormones will be haywire! you may have heard of mirena crash? It happens and I experienced it myself. If you are have decided it's time to remove the mirena then be prepared:

Prior to mirena removal:

Get your body in moving - exercise and try and get in better shape to support your body through crash time.

Yoga - Bring back the balance to your body - yoga is great for relaxation, core strength and also to mentally support you.

Meditation - Finding time to sit  and meditate to bring calmness to the body and mind.

Detox - A week before get juicing, try smoothies, green veggies, grapefruit, lemon, lime, celery, cucumber, watermelon. all great to aid the process. I added maca, nuts and seeds, cacao, to my smoothies each morning.

Get a diary - When I got my mirena removed I kept a record of the changes I  experienced. I also noted when my periods started, heaviness etc, bloating, every single symspton was in my diary so I could be sure of any changes.

Magnesium - I found this helps with sleep, stress and stomach cramps, usually I used the powdered variety which was more expensive but actually more effective.

Vitamin B - Mirena can deplete your body of vitamins and vitamin B is crucial for women, it supports your moods and is particularly needed in times of stress.

Apple Cider Vinegar - I took this daily with a glass of water and squeezed lemon juice, an excellent detox drink.

Probiotics -  Supporting your digestive system post mirena removal  will help with bloating and immunity. I used probiotics from the fridge, theses will cost more but generally have a higher does of bacteria (therefore more effective)

Vitamin C - Can be a good supplement to add for supporting the immune system during the detox phase.

Milk Thistle - A  supplement that supports the liver during detoxification.

Have you had your iron levels checked by your GP? If the mirena caused heavy bleeding you may want to get your iron levels checked as anemia is common in women with heavy periods.

I extensively researched and chose to do what felt right for me and I have kept this lisit very short, I have also not gone into detail about the purpose of each suggestions. This is an overview and I am not a trained professional. I am just a women in my favourites that wants to reach out and help other women through the mirena minefield . If you have a mirena and you love it then that's great! you won't need this page this is for women that are struggling and feeling unsupported. They are suffering mood swings, depression, pain, lack of sex drive, the list goes on and this is merely a space to support those women.

If you are about to get the mirena out soon.....good luck! hopefully you will be on the way to feelign much better  soon.

If you a suggestion for pre mirena removal please leave it in the comments.
